You have several options:

  • Use your Electric Orange Debit Card anywhere MasterCard is accepted.
  • Use our state-of-the-art Electric Orange payment features.
  • Access cash for free at over 35,000 ATMs with your Card; or from merchants that allow cash back as a part of a PIN-based purchase.

Is there a limit on the number of transactions (deposits or withdrawals) I can do in a month?

No. You can do as many transactions as you like (unlike the Orange Savings Account, which as part of federal regulations has a limit of 6 withdrawals per month).

Are there any transaction limits on Electric Orange checking?

Yes. The transaction limit depends on how you’re making the payment.

  • Bill Pay: $100,000 per transaction
  • Person2Person Payment: $5,000 per day. Individual transactions are also limited to $5,000
  • Mail a Check: $100,000 per transaction
  • Overnight a Check: $100,000 per transaction
  • Electric Orange Card ATM withdrawal: $1,000 per day
  • Electric Orange Card purchases using your PIN: $25,000 per day
  • Electric Orange Card purchases not using your PIN: $5,000 per day

How long are deposits to my Electric Orange checking "held"?

That depends on the type of deposit you make. Deposits from your external linked checking account are on hold for 2 bank business days and are unavailable for withdrawal during that time. Check deposits are also on hold for 2 bank business days; however, the first $100 of a check deposit is made available on the next bank business day. Deposits begin earning interest on the 2nd bank business day after the transaction is initiated.

Deposits that are automatically originated outside the bank that come to us electronically – like Direct Deposit or Social Security benefits – are generally available immediately. Transfers between ING DIRECT accounts are also available immediately. Both begin earning interest right away.

Why might there be a difference between my "Balance" and my "Available Balance"?

Your ‘Available Balance’ represents funds available for withdrawal (or for spending). The difference between ‘Balance’ and ‘Available Balance’ is what is 'Pending.' Pending transactions are usually recent deposits you’ve made that are still on hold, payments that are in the process of being sent or Card transactions that have not yet completed – such as when you make a purchase and sign for it.

Your ‘Available Balance’ might also differ from your ‘Balance’ if there are pending electronic transfers due to clear during overnight processing. An example might include when you use your Card for a security deposit at a car rental agency.

Can I receive wire transfers?

Yes, you can receive domestic incoming wire transfers into your Electric Orange. (We only accept transfers from banks within the U.S.) You must provide the external bank sending the wire with your ING DIRECT Account Number (not your Customer Number) and the ING DIRECT routing number: 031176110.

There’s no charge from ING DIRECT for an incoming wire transfer. To see if an incoming wire was posted to your ING DIRECT account, simply sign in to ingdirect.com and click on your Electric Orange. The transfer will be listed in the ‘History’ section if it was received.
